Official Transcripts from a MSN/MS in Nursing from a regionally and nationally accredited program Minimum GPA of 3.0 2 Letters of Recommendation Essay Certified Background check Immunizations complete Health Requirements Unencumbered nursing license Documented supervised clinical hours from MSN/MS Program Malpractice Insurance at APRN level Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist licensure or Certified Nurse Practitioner in another area, such as Adult NP, Family NP, Pediatric NP. If the applicant has not completed the 3 Ps:advanced pathophysiology, physical assessment and advanced pharmacology they would need to be completed. If the Nurse Practitioner is not a Psychiatric Clinical Specialist, the 3 clinical courses, which include classroom didactic as well as 500 supervised clinical hours need to be completed. For those who are Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialists a comprehensive review of their clinical hours would be assessed and based on the number of hours and the specific populations addressed a plan of study would be completed.

Program Description

This program prepares the Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and other Board Certified Nurse Practitioners for advanced practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner. The curriculum is designed to meet current requirements for certification and practice across the life span.
