General Description of School
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) is a comprehensive coeducational institution with career-focused undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and certificate programs and a decades-long record of preparing nurses for success on licensure exams. Located on a beautiful residential 90-acre campus three miles from downtown Hartford, USJ has a range of Nursing programs, all fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(CCNE). The four year direct-entry undergraduate Bachelor of Science in nursing program provides guaranteed clinical sites. For individuals who already hold a Bachelor’s degree, the Accelerated Second Degree in Nursing offers an opportunity to become a registered nurse in 15 months of continuous study. Innovative curricula in USJ’s hybrid and on-campus masters and doctoral programs attract students locally and globally. Graduates seeking a Master’s degree may apply to either the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) programs. The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program prepares nurses for advancement and leadership roles in managing clinical care of patients, improving health care systems and/or providing clinical education. Two DNP tracks are offered; post master’s DNP and post baccalaureate DNP. Post Master’s certificates are also offered in Psychiatric Mental Health and Musculoskeletal Health/Orthopedics.
